Nutrition

Clinical nutritionists provide complete nutritional assessments and develop individualized nutritional intervention plans for children whose medical condition affects or may affect their nutritional status. They specialize notably in nutritional support. 

Services

Nutritionists are active members of a number of multidisciplinary specialty teams throughout the hospital, on care units and in outpatient clinics. These teams include:

  • Neonatal and pediatric intensive care units
  • Medical, surgical and hematology-oncology units
  • Neonatal follow-up clinic
  • Perinatal care, including the Birthing Centre, gestational diabetes, multiple pregnancies, general obstetrics and IVF.
  • Complex Care clinic
  • Endocrinology (diabetes) clinic
  • Gastroenterology clinic
  • Adolescent Medicine clinic (eating disorders and bariatric surgery)
  • Genetics clinic (metabolic diseases)
  • Nephrology clinic
  • Neurology clinic (intractable epilepsy)
  • Cystic fibrosis clinic
  • Pediatric feeding clinic

Referrals

The Clinical Nutrition service accepts cases referred from physicians who work at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. Our nutritionists cannot accept referrals from professionals in the community. For a referral, please call 514-412-4400, ext. 23873.
