Our service comprises two clinics:
- The Complex Colorectal Disorders Clinic provides innovative multidisciplinary care to children with surgically corrected anorectal malformations, Hirschsprung’s disease or other rare conditions of the perineum.
- The Functional Colorectal Disorder Clinic provides care for children with chronic constipation and encopresis (stool leakage).
Services
The Complex Colorectal Disorders Clinic brings together specialists from Urology, Gastroenterology, Pediatric Surgery and Nursing. Our goal is to provide ongoing care and to prepare children for school, and to help them with any other social challenge that may be caused by their colorectal disorder.
The Functional Colorectal Disorder Clinic’s multidisciplinary clinic team includes a pediatric surgeon, a pediatric gastroenterologist, a community pediatrician, and a nurse, and offers other services such as nutrition and psychology services externally. Referral to the clinic is recommended after at least 6 months of treatment by the primary care physician without satisfactory results.
Referrals
Please specify if the referral is for the Complex Colorectal Disorder Clinic (if the child has a known or suspected surgical condition creating the intestinal motility or urinary problem) or for the Functional Colorectal Disorder Clinic (if no surgical cause is known or suspected).
