  • These affordable unitsfor families and single renters have from one to four bedrooms. Unlike the low-cost housing formula, rents are not calculated on the basis of household income. Rents are fixed for the duration of the lease and set lower than the market rate. Rents vary by building, location and apartment size.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicant is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • You have lived in the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM) for 12 months in the 24 months preceding your application.
  • The assets of all persons listed on the application are worth no more than $50,000.
  • You are capable are providing for your own basic needs and those of your household, or you have provided proof that you are receiving assistance that will ensure such autonomy.
  • The combined gross income of all those listed on the application is no more than:
  • Individual: $27,000
  • Couple: $27,000
  • 2 (people who are not living as a couple) or 3 people: $31,500
  • 4 or 5 people: $36,500
  • 6 people or more: $47,500
  • You have filed an application with the OMHM.

Illegibility Criteria:

  • Full-time students with no dependent children
  • Former HLM tenants whose lease was cancelled for eviction, nonpayment of a debt to the landlord or as a result of a judgement by the Régie du logement, within five years of their departure from the HLM and until the date is paid. 

Priority for Emergencies

  • Priority will be given to households that meet eligibility criteria and who have been forced from their homes because of one of the following situations:
  • A disaster making the home unfit for habitation.
  • As the result of a city by-law declaring the apartment unfit for habitation
