At the Montreal Children’s Hospital, we put the needs of children first. Part of that means taking a system-wide approach to patient and family-centered care. While the family is a child’s primary source of strength and support, healthcare professionals are the experts on health and disease. A successful partnership between healthcare providers and families is based on mutual trust, respect and responsibility. Patient Experience at the MCH encompasses a number of services dedicated to support families and include them in their child’s healthcare.

Transition to adult care
When teenagers with chronic illnesses turn 18, they graduate from pediatric to adult care. For any young people and their families, who are used to their healthcare teams, moving on to adult care can be challenging. To help our patients get ready, we guide them through a transition period, which sometimes lasts several years. Read more.
Volunteering
Volunteers make a real difference in the lives of our patients, families and staff at the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH). As an MCH volunteer, you can bring cheer to our waiting rooms, soothe our young patients, help parents find their way around the hospital and support MCH staff, among other important tasks. We offer many new opportunities to learn, engage and gain enriching experiences through volunteering directly with patients, or indirectly in helping to prepare or organize special events. Read more.
