Admitting

Effective August 28, 2025, the MCH will no longer issue hospital cards. Please make sure your health insurance card is valid.
All patients visiting the MCH for the first time must go to the Admitting Office to register. For any appointment or hospital admission, please bring:
- The valid Quebec health insurance card (RAMQ card) of your child. If you don’t have the RAMQ card on hand, we accept a photo of both sides of the card, as long as it is valid.
- The list of your child’s medications, including over-the-counter medications, dietary supplements and natural products
- Your child’s immunization record
Babies born at the MUHC, or newborns seen at the Montreal Children’s Hospital for their first appointment, will temporarily be registred under their mother’s RAMQ card. Parents must update the file in the Admitting Office once the baby has been given a name and a RAMQ card.
If your child does not have a valid Quebec health insurance card, please bring at least one of the following:
- A valid health insurance card from another Canadian province or territory
- Proof of your private health insurance coverage
The MCH Admitting Office is located on RC level, near the Royal Victoria Hospital’s main entrance (C RC.0036)
