Peer support group for parents who have lost a child
Losing a child is a pain no parent should ever face, and grieving is a deeply personal process. At Montreal Children’s Hospital, we understand how important it is to have caring support during this difficult time. Our Pediatric Bereavement Program offers a peer support group to help parents cope with their grief and connect with others who understand their pain.
What is the peer support group?
Our monthly virtual support group provides a safe, private space for parents who have lost a child. Led by MCH professionals who are experienced in helping parents through similar challenges, this group offers:
• Emotional support: A place where you can share your grief and feel heard by others who understand.
• Community: Connect with parents who have gone through similar experiences and find comfort in sharing stories.
• Hope and healing: Over time, you can explore new ways to move forward while keeping your child’s memory alive.
Benefits of attending a peer support group:
Studies show that joining a peer support group can help grieving parents in many ways, including:
- Feeling less isolated and lonely.
- Increased emotional well-being and help understanding complex feelings.
- Improved mental health.
- Receive helpful advice from other parents on coping with tough milestones, anniversaries, and holidays.
- Comfort and reassurance knowing you are not alone on this journey.
