Volunteers play a vital role in creating a positive and caring environment for the patients, families, and staff at the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH).
As an MCH volunteer, you can brighten waiting rooms with your presence, comfort young patients, guide families through the hospital, and support our dedicated staff—just to name a few ways you can

Volunteer Program and How to Apply
Volunteer program
At the Montreal Children’s Hospital, our volunteer program is designed to provide meaningful, patient-centered support to children and their families.
We offer structured, ongoing opportunities for individuals who are passionate about making a difference through direct engagement with our young patients. As a volunteer, you could help organize activities in our different playrooms, help out in our JFK siblings park, offer one on one support to hospitalized patients and their families, and many more.
We do not offer occasional or one-time volunteering, scheduled patient visits, internships, or job shadowing opportunities. Applications and CVs submitted by email will not be accepted. All applicants must apply directly through our online application portal once it is open.
Our requirements
To ensure the best experience for our patients and volunteers, all applicants must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be fluent in both French and English
- Commit to a regular weekly schedule of 3 hours (minimum requirement of 50h over a 6-month period).
- Agree to a criminal background check
- Show proof of childhood vaccines or proof of an immunity to the following: varicella, pertussis, measles mumps and rubella.
