Plan your travel – Major cycling events in September

25 August 2026

Two major cycling events will take place in Montréal in September:

  • The Grand Prix Cycliste, on September 13
  • The 2026 UCI Road World Championships, from September 19 to 27

These events will have a significant impact on traffic and parking in several areas of the city, particularly around the Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital (The Neuro) and the Montreal General Hospital.

Closure of the main event area

The main event site will be located at the foot of Mount Royal, on avenue du Parc between avenue des Pins and avenue du Mont-Royal. This key area will serve as the start and finish line for all races. Given its importance, this section of road will be closed to traffic from September 5 to October 4, including the setup and takedown periods.

Road closures

  • September 12, 13, and 14
    • The race route will follow a circuit around Mount Royal (see map below).
  • September 19 to 27
    • Race routes, heading east, will change daily depending on the event schedule. As a result, road closures and street closure times will differ from one day to the next.
    • Installation of barriers along the race routes will begin early each morning, around 7 a.m. (exact time will vary depending on the race schedule).
    • Once the events have concluded, streets will reopen to traffic.
