The Nephrology team sees children in need of specialized kidney care. We treat many conditions including urinary tract infections, glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, hypertension, genetic renal diseases, electrolyte disorders and congenital anomalies of the kidneys and urinary tract.

Services

We provide inpatient and outpatient care to children across Quebec. We care for children with a wide variety of kidney conditions, including:

  • Congenital anomalies of the kidneys and urinary tract
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Glomerulonephritis
  • High blood pressure
  • Nephrotic syndrome
  • Kidney stones
  • Genetic kidney diseases
  • Cystic kidney diseases
  • Kidney transplantation

The specialized treatments we offer include:

  • Hemodialysis or Peritoneal dialysis 
  • Continuous renal replacement therapy
  • Plasmapheresis
  • Red blood cell exchange or white blood cell depletion therapies
  • Immunosuppressive and immunomodulating therapies

Our Nephrology clinics are held four mornings per week. The division also maintains outreach clinics in Gatineau. We provide care to Indigenous and other communities in Northern Quebec in collaboration with general pediatricians serving the communities and using Telehealth.


Team

Our team consists of nephrologists, specialist nephrology nurses, a dialysis technician, a dietician, a psychologist and a social worker. Our administrative professionals also play a key role in the delivery of high quality care.
