Ophthalmology

Services

The Montreal Children’s Hospital provides care to children with both common and rare eye conditions. Our services include targeted treatment options and surgical interventions.

We are equipped to handle a wide range of eye conditions including cataracts, corneal and anterior segment disorders, red eyes, low vision, and blindness. Other conditions we treat include:

  • Strabismus, nystagmus and amblyopia
  • Eye traumas
  • Ocular and orbital conditions (requiring plastic surgery)
  • Neuro-ophthalmological conditions including optic nerve and brain disorders
  • Retinal degenerations (retinitis pigmentosa, leber congenital amaurosis, cone and cone-rod dystrophies)
  • Night blindness
  • Uveitis 

We also care for diabetic, sickle cell, rheumatology, seizure and hemoglobinopathy patients.

We offer an interdisciplinary program for retinoblastoma and glaucoma in conjunction with CHU Sainte-Justine.

Offers individualized rehabilitation services to children with visual impairment and other conditions.

A resource for individuals and families impacted by blindness, which offers accurate eye health information, educational events, advocacy initiatives and more.
