Patient Partners
We believe in partnering with patients and families to provide the best care possible. Your feedback matters to us. We want to know what we’re doing well and how we can improve. Together, we can enhance the patient and family experience at the MCH.
Patient Partnerships is not the same as in-person volunteering with patients and families. As a Patient Partner, your lived experience and insights help shape programs, policies, and care delivery.
What is a patient partner?
A Patient Partner is a family member of a child who has received care or was a patient themselves at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. Patient Partners bring a valuable and unique perspective from their own experiences, working in collaboration with staff to help shape hospital’s policies, programs and practices.
They can:
- Share their stories at staff meetings and training sessions
- Join committees or special projects.
- Help create and review patient education material.
- Support collection and analysis of patient experience data.
- Present at meetings or conferences.
- Co-design and co-instruct training sessions and workshops.
- Contribute to research development and implementation.
Who can become a patient partner?
You can become a Patient Partner if you are a current or former patient of the Montreal Children’s Hospital, or a family member of a child who received care and you:
- Have a passion for improving the patient experience
- Feel comfortable speaking in a group and sharing your perspective
- Are open to different viewpoints and ideas
- Agree to respect privacy and confidentiality guidelines
