Contact Information (for parent or guardian)

The Psychiatry Department’s multidisciplinary teams offer specialized care for children and adolescents, always taking into account their family situation and dynamics. We work with partners in the community to promote continuity of care and improve the quality of life for those with significant mental health issues.

Services

If your child or teenager is showing signs of suicidal or homicidal behaviour, take them to the Emergency Department as soon as possible. You can call 911 for guidance.

First Episode Psychosis Program Clinic

If you are concerned about a young person’s condition and psychotic symptoms, you are strongly encouraged to contact the clinic without delay. Tel.: 514-412-4400, ext. 24449.

Outpatient Clinic

To get a referral for your child to outpatient mental health services within the healthcare network:

  • Meet with your pediatrician or family doctor to discuss the problems.
  • Have the doctor write a consultation request listing the problems and assessment needed.
  • Deliver the consultation request to your local CLSC’s Intake Office for Youth Mental Health (Guichet d’accès en santé mentale jeunesse – GASMJ).
  • The intake office will help you find the mental health resources available to you and determine if a psychiatric consultation is needed.

Team

The multidisciplinary teams in the outpatient clinics and on the units are made up of psychologists, psychiatry residents, social workers, special education technicians, nurse clinicians,  psychotherapists, teachers, and occupational therapists.
