Insightful words from a pediatric psychologist

2 February 2026

Psychology month is celebrated in Canada in February. We spoke with Dr. Loredana Marchica, a psychologist from the Montreal Children’s Hospital.

After completing her residency at the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH), Dr. Loredana Marchica says she knew she wanted to join the team of “outstanding psychologists” who work at the MCH. Her opportunity came after graduation, and ever since 2020, she’s been providing compassionate care for young patients and their families.

“As psychologists, we are deeply committed to the mental health of those who are navigating some of life’s most challenging moments. We strive to create compassionate spaces where people feel safe to share their truths and explore their most difficult thoughts and emotions.”

Dr. Marchica feels profoundly grateful to be part of a department that supports one another all while tirelessly advocating for the wellbeing of patients.

“The psychologists at the MCH are among the most hardworking and dedicated colleagues I have known.”

To say “we are” is to affirm that each of us carries a piece of the institution’s mission, she notes.

“At the Montreal Children’s Hospital, we thrive as an integrated system of professionals who bring diverse expertise to serve a single purpose: improving the life of each and every patient. Every patient encounter, every team discussion, and every student we mentor, contributes to the culture of empathy and excellence in our workplace. For all of these reasons, we proudly are the MUHC.”

Dr. Marchica also appreciates being part of a larger family, the MUHC, where she says, “the people remain grounded through compassion, collaboration, and a mindset of growth.”
