On Thursday, September 10, 2015, the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH) will be involved in a simulation exercise to test response measures in the event of a large scale emergency from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
How will this affect you?
Most of the exercise will take place in front of the MCH ED on S1. The parking ramp and main entrance to the department will be off limits for the duration of the activity, but volunteers will be present to help you enter the site through an alternate route. The simulation will be stopped in case of a real emergency.
If you notice your child’s condition is worsening, please request a re-evaluation by the triage nurse. Personnel are available in the waiting room to help you and answer any questions you may have. During this exercise, some non-urgent hospital services may be delayed. Thank you for your patience.
How to enter the MCH Emergency Department from the main entrance on the RC level:
What is a simulation?
The purpose of this exercise is to help hospital employees better respond to an external disaster. In order to prepare them for a potential real-life situation, staff will be working with simulated patients (actors and mannequins) to help them test the hospital’s emergency measures.
Thank you for understanding the importance of such exercises in ensuring that the Children’s is prepared in the event of a major disaster and we apologize for any delays.
