Montreal, July 18, 2022 – The Montreal Children’s Hospital advises the public that its emergency department is resuming normal operations, after announcing yesterday that its emergency services were not able to care for patients not requiring urgent care (categories 4 and 5).
However, our teams would like to remind parents that there are alternatives to the emergency department when their child is sick, but the case is not urgent. We recommend calling the Info-Santé 811 telephone line to speak to a nurse, contacting their family doctor for a consultation or a walk-in clinic through the Québec Medical Appointment Scheduler portal. In addition, for Montreal children aged 0 to 17 who do not have a family doctor, it is also possible to contact the Guichet d’accès à la première ligne (GAP) by calling 514-890-6111.
